With Sydney Comedy Festival taking over the city in May, the Rainbow Precinct paved the way for a night-time crawl with a difference, hosting its first Queer Comedy Crawl.
The Rainbow Precinct in Darlinghurst, with the iconic Oxford Street at its centre, has long been the heart and soul of Sydney’s LGBTIQA+ community. This week, the District lit up with laughter as it hosted its first Queer Comedy Crawl in collaboration with Sydney Comedy Festival.
One ticket to the Queer Comedy Crawl on May 6th in the colourful District offered quadruple the fun, with stops at 4 mystery venues for 4 comedy shows from 4 different queer comedians.
It was an event passionately crafted to reflect and celebrate the unique DNA of its setting, ensuring authenticity and an experience that can’t be replicated just anywhere.
What’s as distinct as the event itself is the way the collaboration came about: during Connections Café, a speed networking session at last year’s NEON Forum, where Districts had the opportunity to meet with and pitch to major event organisers, including Sydney Comedy Festival.
“It was one of those rare moments where everything aligned and the concept of a queer comedy crawl for Rainbow Precinct came together organically in about 10 minutes. Honestly, the best ideas often happen that way!” Rainbow Precinct District Coordinator, Lorraine Lock said.
