Special Event Extended Trading is an initiative under the Section 13 of the Liquor Act 2007 where extended trading hours for licensed premises can be declared for events that hold regional, State, or national significance.
The extended trading hours apply to venues automatically, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the event. Eligible venues do not need to apply or register to access the extended trading. Relevant conditions are listed in the table below.
Licence types eligible for extended trading:
Hotels
General bars
Clubs
Small bars
On-premises related to a restaurant
Producer/Wholesaler licence with a drink on premises authorisation or a special drink on premises authorisation
Listed live music and performance venues
Casino, being a licence granted under Schedule 6, section 10 of the Casino Control Regulation 2019.

NRL Men’s and Women’s Grand Finals
Repco Bathurst 1000
Marrickville Music Festival
Rugby League World Cup
Parramatta Lanes Festival
Norton Street Festival
Festival of Balmain
