The Sydney Comedy Festival is one of Australia’s leading cultural events, presenting a diverse program of local and international comedy each year across Sydney.
Founded in 2005 and supported by Century, the Festival has grown into a city wide event spanning more than 400 shows across April and May. It brings together established global talent, emerging voices and a broad range of comedic styles, from stand up and sketch to improv, storytelling and family programming.
The Festival activates multiple venues and precincts across Sydney including major theatres, independent venues and outdoor sites such as Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour. Signature events include Gala on the Green, Great Laugh in the Park and a series of Gala performances across the Sydney Opera House, Enmore Theatre, Chatswood, Penrith and Sutherland.
In 2025, the Festival welcomed more than 160,000 attendees, with strong growth in both local and visitor engagement. It plays an important role in the city’s cultural calendar, sitting between Mardi Gras and Vivid as a key autumn event that drives visitation, precinct activation and night time economy outcomes.
The Festival is also committed to developing audiences and future talent through its Kids and Family programming, workshops and accessible events, ensuring comedy remains inclusive and intergenerational.
We are actively looking to collaborate with precincts, venues, councils, sponsors and cultural organisations to deliver:
• Precinct activations such as Comedy Crawl style programming
• Outdoor and large scale public events
• Venue based programming and touring opportunities
• Community and family focused programming
• Brand and sponsorship partnerships aligned with live entertainment
• Regional extensions and touring initiatives
Our work is focused on bringing people together through shared experiences, creating vibrant, safe and engaging cultural moments that support both community connection and economic activity.
The Festival operates annually across April and May, with events typically running seven days per week across multiple venues and precincts throughout Sydney.
