Have an idea that brings science, technology or innovation into public spaces? National Science Week Public Event Grants open at 10am on Tuesday 1 September 2026, offering funding for events and activities that engage broad audiences and encourage participation in science. Projects can be delivered in person or online and should inspire curiosity, participation and connection through science.

Creative practitioners and experience designers
For the 24-hour economy, this funding presents an opportunity to create science-inspired experiences that activate precincts, attract audiences and bring people together outside traditional business hours. Think evening talks, light and technology installations, science-themed festivals, public demonstrations, immersive experiences or collaborations between science, arts and culture.
Projects that foster partnerships between communities, industry and research organisations are encouraged, as are new and innovative approaches to audience engagement.
