A Civic Theatre Initiative that supports local producers and playwrights to bring their new and reimagined works to the stage.
Established in 2024, the program invites audiences to discover fresh stories, new perspectives and ambitious productions. From contemporary works and original plays to inventive reinterpretations of classic stories, UpStage showcases the creativity and talent of our region's theatre makers.
Each year, four productions are selected to form the UpStage season, transforming the Playhouse into a space where new ideas take centre stage and audiences can experience theatre that is challenging, entertaining, thought-provoking and distinctly local.
Applications are welcome from local emerging and established independent playwrights, producers and theatre makers ready to present their new or reimagined work on the Playhouse stage.
